To the citizens of the Town of Colbert:
We conduct daily testing of PH and Chlorine levels. We submit fresh water and wastewater samples to a DEQ third party test lab two weeks each month to be tested for bacteria, copper and lead. We also test our wastewater for PH and Chlorine once each month. In the past we have had late submissions of water samples and lapsed reporting. While water test results continuously meet DEQ standards, which assures that our drinking water is safe, these discrepancies are unacceptable, and we have resolved this problem. Additionally, we are working closely with DEQ to ensure that the Town of Colbert is in compliance with staffing requirements and testing guidelines.
Thank you,
To the citizens of the Town of Colbert
Beginning on Monday September 15th, 2025, work begins on N. Franklin starting at Bowles Service Station all the way to Love's to repair the shoulder's on both sides of the road. Thank you for your patience during this project.
Thank you,
Our PUA Staff has been anxious to get started fixing the shoulders on North Franklin St. With the help of our County Commissioner, Justin Boone, and his District 2 Staff. This is a much-needed project to improve the safety of this section of the road. A permanent fix would be a 3-inch asphalt overlay, at an estimated cost of over $300,000. The work we are currently doing provides a base for a future asphalt overlay and is costing the Town of Colbert about $22,000. That is just the cost of gravel. District 2 provides equipment, hauling and labor at no cost to our citizens. I encourage you to take time to thank District 2 staff and Colbert PUA staff for making this a safer road to travel.
